This years Glasgow’s West End Festival will be celebrating it’s 20th year this summer. The festival’s longevity is of no surprise due to the popularity growing year on year. This year is to be of no exception as locals and tourists alike head towards Glasgow’s West End to take in the atmosphere.

The West End Festival is Glasgow’s largest cultural event and every June it takes over the Glasgow West End with a wide variety of events and performances.

The West End Festival started in 1996 as a small local festival centred around Byres Road and for two weeks it embarks in all sorts of activities including live music, outdoor theatre, comedy, drama, guided walks, talks, film, children’s events, various local street celebrations and markets, and a well-known Carnival Parade and Street Party on the opening Sunday.

More than 1 million visitors have attended the event since it started and last year the festival encompassed over 400 events in 80 venues across the west end. This brilliant festival really shows the true multicultural city that is Glasgow, and proves beyond all doubt that the arts are alive and kicking in Scotland’s best loved city.
